What is psilocybin?
Psilocybin is an alkaloid belonging to the group of tryptamines. It is found in nature in at least 200 species of fungi, the most notable being those belonging to the genus Psilocybe Cubensis.
Medicinal and therapeutic use
The use of psilocybes mushrooms for medicinal purposes dates back centuries. For millennia, indigenous cultures have used these psychedelic substances in a highly ritualized and sacramental healing context. Currently, scientific research shows promising results to treat various mental health conditions, thanks to the effects of these substances on the brain.
Why is psilocybin an adjuvant in therapy?
Research indicates that the use of these substances facilitates the occurrence of highly significant and lasting experiences that contain deep and personal meaning. Recent research has found positive therapeutic results in people with diagnoses of anxiety, depression, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc. For its part, in healthy people, an increase in subjective well-being and mental health has been reported.
